"A little palace by the water"  Stuart March 2010

We left this morning after a fantastic stay -- your place is so nicely fitted out, was a pleasure to wake up each morning... we would have had little trouble never leaving the house if the weather had dictated it.  A little palace by the water!

I first came across Driftwood in a divine moment of serendipity when the nearby hotel I'd stayed in previously turned out to be full. After a hectic few months in London I was looking for a bolt hole far away from the pressures of life, close enough to nature to enjoy its serenity but not so close that it crawls all over you. Driftwood is a two-bedroom holiday cottage on the shores of Lake Conjola, on the south coast of New South Wales. It's a fair old drive from Sydney, but there wasn't a shred of doubt in my mind we'd taken the right decision to spend a few days chilling here. We spent hours on hend mesmerised by the stillness of the place, with the only sounds coming from fish jumping out of the lake and wild parroquets. Provided you've bought your own food, the place has everything you could possibly need - including a few thoughtfully provided last minute kitchen ingredients that you've likely forgotten. The hosts are even considerate enough to leave a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge awaiting your arrival. The surrounding area boasts some beautiful parkland and some stunning beaches (mind the rip tide and sharks) just a 10 minute drive away. The nearest big town, Ulladulla, lives up to the second part of its name, but heck if we'd wanted city lights we would've opted for Sydney or Melbourne. This is a real find and somewhere we'll be happy to return to.

It's perhaps not expected for paying guests to say thank you, but that's exactly what we'd like to say. The house suited us down to the ground. Aside from the beautiful setting and charming decoration, you've clearly both invested a lot of thought in making the place easy to navigate for those who won't have been there before.  A few months back when we were planning the trip,  we knew the house was going to be perfect the moment we set eyes on it. And so it was.   We'll miss the plopping sound of fish jumping in the lake and our parrot friends, all the serenity of it (well, ok maybe not the parrots) seems so very far away now.  We'll have no hesitation in recommending the place to anyone heading over to those parts and very much look forward to a return visit ourselves.

Driftwood was an absolute delight and we sincerely hope that we will be able to stay there again. The house has everything (and more) that one needs to enjoy a relaxing and peaceful holiday, with all the comforts of home (minus the incessant ringing phone). The peace and quiet of the area is wonderful and the closeness of good cafes in Milton a bonus. We would be happy to recommend Driftwood to anyone who is looking for that little bit extra in a holiday rental. The booking system with David all went seamlessly. All in all, a delightful experience.

'What a perfect place to relax, enjoy a glass of wine on the deck and marvel at the visiting echidna on the lawn. Thank you Virginia, for providing a holiday house with such a beautiful feel; from the huge, light-filled bedroom to the kitchen filled with everything you could possibly need to cook up a storm, it really is a little slice of Conjola heaven. We are counting the months until we can come back again.....and the dogs are glaring at us for dragging them away and bringing them back home.

Driftwood was a great place for our family to relax together. All had a wonderful time, including our dog. I think she would have become a permanent guest if permitted.

PAUL - JULY 2007
A truly excellent retreat far away from the rat race where you can really relax and unwind. It has all the comfort, warmth, charm and atmosphere you would expect in your own country cottage. I look forward to another stay at Driftwood in the near future.

ALISON - JUNE 2007
You have a lovely cottage in a peaceful and pretty setting. We had a great time wandering along the lakes edge and then relaxing by the fire. The cottage is equipped with everything you might need and beautifully presented. The bottle of wine provided for our arrival was very much appreciated.

KERRIE - JUNE 2007
We had such a lovely time, sunset on the lake, walks on the Conjola beach, fish & chips in Ulladulla. I was looking for peace & quiet away from city life. Somewhere to feel in touch with nature. Somewhere where time can stand still while you gather your thoughts and reboot! Driftwood gave me this and plenty more. You will feel entirely at home.'If you are creative it's a great place to write, if you are tired it's a great place to relax and if you are an entertainer it's a great place to cook up a feast. There's been plenty of love put into this place! I feel like a new person.

Thanks Virginia we will be sure to spread the world.

P.S - I love the teapot!

JOAN - MARCH 2007
We had a wonderful time in your delightful cottage, including Mr. Ziggy, the cat. He was totally rejuvenated, exploring everything like a two year old, and eating like a horse. Must have been the lake air. We hope we will be able to visit again.

THE WALSH FAMILY - JANUARY 2007
Thank you for providing us with such wonderful accommodation. We had some very happy times & we truly felt 'at home'. Kind regards, the Walsh Family :)

Our stay at Driftwood has been one that I will always remember, from our romantic fireside interludes to watching the morning mist drift across the lake at breakfast time. I love that big, beautiful bedroom with the views!

LEE - MAY 2006
My last visit to this charming cottage was not my first. On visits from the U.S. over the last several years I have stayed at this property on several occasions and can say it is a most idyllic location, very peaceful. The wild birdlife is fascinating. Many upgrades have occurred over the last several months and with the lovely fireplace and the fabulous views and all the comforts of home, it is a cosy and comfortable way to spend a vacation. I hope to return many more times.

Thank you. Your house is lovely. I particularly enjoyed having our evening meal out on the deck overlooking the water and the hammock out the back was a favourite place with the family! I had mixed feelings when I entered, feeling like I was intruding in someone's home, but at the same time delighted at finding such comfortable, relaxing and well appointed holiday accommodation. You and I obviously have very similar taste, even my daughter noticed this, commenting on the blue and yellow theme of the decor, my long time favourite. I can assure you it was very difficult to leave!

Thanks again, and I will keep your contact details handy, I would love to return sometime in the future.
